A fantastic new initiative introduced at the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle – by Rydges and Sweetlips Fremantle are bringing the future of bicycle hire to Fremantle with convenient bicycle hire, that's fun, healthy and good for the environment. The automatic bicycle stations, which are solar powered, are located outside the entrance of the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle on Essex Street and Sweeetlips at Fishing Boat Harbour. Simply insert your card, grab a bike and go. Return your bicycle to the station, 24 hours a day. It's that easy! A central computer system tracks each Spinway bicycle's data including distance, duration, calories burned and carbon offsets are captured for the ride too. The Spinway mobile app allows you to check availability and reserve bikes.
You can’t read a book when you’re riding a bike! Well actually you can. Fremantle Bicycle users group (BUG) and maker Samatha Hughes (Inkling Arts) have created a magical story ride for Freo families. Jump on your bike and begin the story at the north end of the south beach carpark. Follow the story along the bike path all the way to the Esplanade reserve. Join us for the official opening of the story ride at 9.30am on Sunday 26 March. The story will stay on the path until it wears off so you’ll have a few weeks to read it whenever you want.
The Ride-In Cinema will bring back all the nostalgic memories of visiting the Drive-in but with a Fremantle twist. Ride in to Market Street Piazza, park your bike and get dinner from one your favourite spots before settling in to view a series of short films that are related to cycling in some way, shape or form. Don’t get too comfy though, this cinema needs some pedal power to operate. San Churro's will be there handing out some free samples and discount vouchers to keep the energy levels up. Grab a group of friends, family or maybe your neighbours and get pedalling at The Ride-In Cinema to celebrate Bike Week and Neighbourhood Day.
