Australias Biggest Morning Tea 2017

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea is Cancer Council Australia's most popular fundraising event and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia. The City of Fremantle will be hosting a Biggest Morning Tea in Kings Square to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Council Australia.  This year's event will feature a performance by The Mama Red Quartet along with guest poet Dennis Haskell. Come down to Kings Square and show your support for this worthy cause, gold coin donations will be taken on the day with all money raised going to fund research, prevention and support services for those affected by cancer. 

Sleep

A series of wildly creative and beautifully realised puppetry works inspired by the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, devised and performed by the final year Performance Making students at theWestern Australia Academy of Performing Arts. WAAPA Students will work with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s Associate Director, Michael Barlow. This magical show of edgy adult puppetry poses questions about suppressed sensuality, vengeance for social exclusion and the occasional murderous instinct! A night of strange figures, objects and dreams – go to Sleep. This show was developed as part of Spare Parts’ Tertiary Partnerships program.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Australia's successful America’s Cup Defence, the WA Maritime Museum invites you to share photographs that captured the excitement of this momentous day for a special temporary exhibition. Photos can be uploaded to the WA Museum’s website (www.museum.wa.gov.au/upload) during the Fremantle Heritage Festival from Friday 26 May till Monday 5 June. Alternately please bring your photo to the WA Maritime Museum on Saturday 3 May between 10am and 2pm and we can help you to upload it. Learn about traditional seasonal movements, bush tucker, the separate roles of women and men, trading networks, dialects of Nyoongar language and the impact of settlement including the Roundhouse and Rottnest Island. The tour takes about an hour and then we debrief at a café nearby.
