Electrocity Ensemble Lost in Time Place

A FRINGE WORLD 2018 collaboration between students and staff from St Georges Anglican School combining sampling, looping, instrumental performance, live electronics and sound design. Immerse yourself in the sounds of our city interwoven with live original composition: Electrocity Ensemble is surprising, enchanting, haunting, beautiful, edgy.Taking sound samples from around Perth as a starting point, students and staff have collaborated to write songs combining orchestral and contemporary instruments with electronic and software-based performance. Electrocity Ensemble grew out of a 5-day workshop at the end of 2016, taking instruments out of their traditional contexts and exploring new contemporary possibilities. A collaboration between staff and students (but student driven), the group combines sampling, looping, software and electronics with live instrumental performance. Queens Baton Relay

The eyes of the Commonwealth will be on Fremantle on as the baton journeys towards its final destination, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 4 April 2018. Setting off in Australia on Monday 25 December 2017, the Baton will travel for 100 days to connect with as many people as possible in every state and territory. The Queen’s Baton carries a message from Her Majesty The Queen through the entire Commonwealth. The Games are declared officially open when the message is read aloud. The Baton will arrive in Fremantle by sea from Bathers Bay onto Bathers Beach before it sets off through the streets of Fremantle. Join Mayor Brad Pettit on the boardwalk at Bathers Beach to mark this momentous occasion with a traditional Welcome to Country and live music.
