Two painters and a potter present T I D A L.Ceramic and painted works celebrating WA's shoreline by emerging and award winning local artists Steven Pooley, Tahnee Robinson and Jo Meredith.Opening night Thursday 22 March 6.30pm.White Gallery - Kidogo Arthouse, Fremantle. Please RSVP to attend opening for catering - continues 23 - 29 March open 11- 4 daily or by request.  Each artist has an individual medium and style yet shares a love of our local environment. TIDAL explores our connection with, and need to interpret WA's stunning coast.  Enjoy art, live music, food, wine and good company at the opening, or visit during the week and meet the artists. STEVEN POOLEY - 'The art works I create are an interpretation of place and time, with the strident colours, planes and shapes intended to produce an emotional response.' Steven's background in interior and furniture design lend his fremantle urban street scapes and vibrant rottnest works a uniquely structural feel. Heightened colour and spirited lines echo French Fauvism and David Hockney, Steven is also influenced by the Canadian Group of Seven's translation of extreme landscapes. His acrylic practice has evolve over 8 years from smaller canvases to larger studio-based works, painting from within the landscape wherever possible - 'I never feel more alive than when experiencing our natural environment through en plein air painting.' SP @steven_pooley_art TAHNEE ROBINSON - Tahnee has drawn inspiration from aerial photography for this series with experimental brushed and poured glazes emulating the wash of waves along the coast. She finds parallels between the tides and her own creative process; 'I am drawn to colours inspired by the West Australian landscape and ocean. Generally, there are two sides of my work. There’s the clean lines, bold forms, functional side, and then there is the tangible, earthy, handmade and somewhat organic side. I do like to make sure my pieces are unique and feel/look handmade. I hope they have that thing about them that is hard to describe but makes you know they are individually crafted by a person, not a machine.' TR JO MEREDITH - 'Painting teaches me about myself again and again, each creative outpour though familiar is a different experience, like visiting your favourite beach in all forms of weather. Swimming makes me feel alive and painting our coast a rich immersion in something I truly love.' Jo's love of the local WA landscape continues with works that revel in WA's colours, from dusk in Floreat to bright mornings swimming in pristine Rottnest bays. Her oil painting practice has deepened with vibrant chunks of colour, sweeping across the canvas with a wave like rhythm - 'I love the challenge of painting water, creating waves and ripples by guiding paint back and forth, lapping over itself and picking up flecks of paint from layers below, always moving like the tides themselves' JM @jomeredithart *for further info contact or 0439 918 010
