Winter School Holiday Workshop Programs

Have you ever wanted to run away with the circus? Fancy learning how to juggle, walk a tight rope, or swing on a trapeze?? Now is the time to run away with CircusWA. Come on down to Circus WA for our School Holiday Workshops! We're running a series of workshops for ages 5 through to 17. Family Buffet Movie Nights

Enjoy a delicious family buffet dinner and movie at the Atrium Garden Restaurant, Fremantle. Dinner starts at 5.30pm, then settle the kids in at 6pm to watch Finding Dory while you enjoy your own dinner. Along with your buffet meal, adults can enjoy free coffee and tea and there's unlimited popcorn and fruit punch for kids. This is a great school holiday activity for the whole family!

Pilates for the whole family

During school holidays children age 6 -14 can join their parents or grandparents in a class for free. Indigenous Book Cubby

The Book Cubby is on loan from the State Library of WA for NAIDOC Week and the two weeks following to showcase indigenous books made around Australia. Head to the Fremantle City Library from 5 July to read these fantastic stories in the custom build Book Cubby. 

Junior photography workshop at the WA Maritime Museum

Get creative with a hands-on photography workshop, presented by experts from the West Australian Photographic Federation. Develop or learn photography skills and capture images of an epic voyage within the WA Maritime Museum. Age 8 - 14. WA Maritime Museum entry fees apply for accompanying adult. Plasticfree Food Wrap Workshop

It's plastic-free July so come along and learn how to reduce the vast amounts of plastic wrap used for food storage and make your own natural, reusable fabric food wraps. Using natural bees wax and cloth we'll create funky wraps of different sizes to be used as lids for storage pots, sandwich wraps, food covers and perfect for taking shopping to stop using uneccessary plastic.

Jam Time for 6-12 year olds

Come along & learn how to play music with others. Jam Time is a great way to make new friends and have fun over the holidays!  Learn the fundamentals of playing songs together as a group. Make up your own band name. Learn some classic tunes (we will cover reggae, folk, pop & rock genres), then create your own original song together as a band. At the end of the session we will play a little mini-concert for our families. No experience necessary, but kids with musical experience are catered for with more challenging song parts. 

Feltmaking

Learn how to make natural, wool felt in this short workshop. We'll learn all about felt and felt making, uses and you'll get hands on with making your own. Take it home and frame for your wall or explore some of the other possibilities using it as a decorative item or as detailing on clothing and bags, jewellery, brooches, pins, hairbands, the possibilities are endless.

School Holiday Songwriting Circles for Teens and Tweens

Come along with friends or make some new ones & discover the joys of self-expression through music. Exploring a variety of styles, lyrical & melodic content & the myriad inspirations that can help you create your own songs. For the absolute beginner through to experienced young musicians, this circle is a supportive & creative space for sharing encouragement & ideas.    You can do just one, or come along more than once for a new experience & dynamic with different groups as you go. 

NAIDOC Skate Session

Winterworld has come to Fremantle and we have a dedicated NAIDOC week skating session all booked in! Head to the ice skating rink or the skate park to skate the afternoon away listening to our DJ and watching the snow fall!  The Esplanade Youth Plaza is free for all to attend, just bring your own skateboard or scooter! Bookings for ice skating are essential, fees apply. 

The Big HOOHAA Improv Workshop

Upcycle Gnarly Knits for Kids

This is a fun, creative workshop designed to get kids hands on with repurposing. What to do with those lovely old knits when we've grown up and out or the moths have given them more holes than Swiss cheese? In this workshop we'll rummage through a huge bundle of preloved knits and reinvent them into bags, gloves, legwarmers, scarves, hats, purses, toys, pet jumpers and rocket ships.
