Make Your Own Leggy Planter with Sarana Haeata

Learn to hand build and glaze your very own leggy planters with artist Sarana Haeata across two-weekend sessions. In the first session, students will learn a slab and coiling techniques to create the unique shape of their planters. By the end of this session, each student will have one or more forms ready for firing. In the second session, Sarana will guide the group through glazing techniques that will best achieve each participant’s individual design. Diaphonize wet specimen workshop

Learn this very unusual but eye catching method of preserving wet specimens.  Students will be working with fish, eels or pinky mice using diaphonization techniques. This new technique, established in the 70s, involves the staining of muscles and cartilage, rendering them transparent.All students will receive their own diaphonizing kits to take home. You will begin the process of preservation in class, and continue at home following detailed instructions.
