Overview

The Fremantle Town Hall, St John’s Church and Kings Square surrounded by majestic Moreton Bay Fig trees mark the heart of the Fremantle CBD, the central business and shopping area of Fremantle.

It is here that you will find the major banks, chemists, national retail stores interspersed with cafés and restaurants, some very funky boutiques, an outdoor reading room, a giant chess board and free ping pong.

Fremantle has developed a reputation for shopping that is unique, eclectic and funky and many of the businesses located in the CBD reflect that. Explore the stores on Cantonment Street and Market St and don’t miss the wonderful MANY 6160 that faces Kings Square. This giant pop up store houses artists, craftsmen, fashion designers, food and beverage couturiers from Western Australia showcasing a collective of premium quality products and services.

It is also home to the Fremantle Visitor Centre, one of the busiest in WA, where the friendly staff and guides provide local information and tips about what to do and where to stay.

The closest Fremantle Central Area Transit (CAT) bus stop for City Central is number 4 or 5 on the red route.
