The Round House is the oldest public building in the State of Western Australia. Opened in January 1831, just 18 months after settlement, it was built to hold any person convicted of a crime in the settlement and was used until 1886.
The Round House is open between 10.30am and 3.30pm every day except Christmas Day and Good Friday.
The cannon is fired daily at 1pm, preceded by a talk by one of our volunteer Guides commencing around 12.50pm (weather permitting). Visitors are welcome to apply to act as our Honorary Gunner. We recommend advance bookings to avoid disappointment - just check out our web site for more information
