ANZAC Day 2018 North Fremantle Service

Gather around Fremantle's first war memorial and join members of the Fremantle City and Bicton-Palmyra RSLs along with the North Fremantle Amateur Football Club and students from the North Fremantle Primary School in remembering our fallen. About 550 men out of a population of 4,000 from North Fremantle served overseas during World War I.  Just over 100 did not return and in 1921, a committee of the Mothers and Widows of those that had fallen was organised to raise funds for a memorial to their loved ones.  The site on the corner of the reserve next to the Town Hall was chosen as it would be seen by everyone that passed through the town. A total of 105 names were inscribed on each of the monument’s four faces which included 12 names to commemorate players from the North Fremantle Football Club who died during World War I. The Fremantle City and Bicton-Palmyra RSLs hold a service at this memorial every ANZAC Day and City of Fremantle is very pleased to be able to support this commemorative service in 2018. Location: Fallen Soldier Memorial Park, Cnr Queen Victoria Street & Harvest Road, North Fremantle Time: Assemble at 8.45am for a 9.00am start.  Expected conclusion no later than 9.45am Road closures will be in place on Harvest Road from 8.30am and will reopen at the conclusion of the service. Some chairs will be available in front of the Monument. Wreath laying welcome (please note the cost and arrangements of the wreaths are those of the wreath layer). Event registration is not necessary although we would appreciate you getting in touch if you intend to lay a wreath so that you are included in the wreath laying schedule.
