Pintupi Artists of the Western Desert

Pintupi artists have had a profound influence on the development of the Western Desert art movement since it emerged at Papunya in 1971. Contributing artists for this exhibition include George Hairbrush Tjungurrayi, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, Warlimpirnnga Tjapaltjarri and his brothers Walala and Thomas Tjapaltjarri, George Ward Tjungurrayi and Jake Tjapaltjarri. The combination of Tingari or Dreaming motifs used to describe the culture and Country of these senior men formed the basis of the abstracted dot designs that both described and disguised some of the great creation narratives from their heritage. Wildlife Zoo at the Markets

We love having West Oz Wildlife, one of Perth’s leading wildlife petting zoos, at Fremantle Markets. They provide a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with native Australian animals such as koalas, snakes & dingoes. You can usually only glimpse such animals amidst big crowds in larger reserves or zoos. Our Wildlife Zoo offers a more intimate approach, allowing both children and adults to experience these animals in a smaller and more relaxed setting. Entry by Gold Coin Donation. Sharon Shannon Band with special guest Susan ONeill

Sharon Shannon Band, with special guest Susan O’Neill in a Double Bill Concert.  Sharon Shannon is a name synonymous with and entrenched in the culture and fabric of Traditional Irish Music. Sharon’s journey with her accordion and love for music has led her to become one of the world’s most highly acclaimed traditional musicians, and her personality has led her to be one of Ireland’s most well-liked and popular national treasures. From her debut self-titled album in 1991 to her most recent “Sacred Earth” album, her work demonstrates a wide-ranging number of musical influences. Sharon Shannon is a musician who likes to surprise. While she is known for her arrangements of traditional Irish tunes and Irish-influenced compositions, she has always been eager to explore new styles, and to meet and work with other musicians. Her work demonstrates a groundbreaking mix of traditional Irish with reggae, country, Native American, bluegrass, cajun, rap, dance, French Canadian and African. The prodigously gifted Susan O’Neill is aso from County Clare, Ireland. Her soulful & husky-voiced performances are truly something to behold. Using guitar, harmonica, trumpet and a loop pedal, Susan delivers a timeless and powerful blend of the old and new. Her inspirational fusion of soulful Irish folk and her own acclaimed original material makes for an entertaining and enchanting musical experience. Her solo performances are literally mind-blowing. The amazing range of her gritty vocal combined with her superb guitar technique, her loop pedals and trumpet, make for a truly unforgettable musical experience. Kids Learn to Sail

Is your child interested in learing how to sail? Why not enrol them in a Learn to Sail course at EFYC! Our courses are for kids aged 7 - 17 years old, and cater for a range of levels and experience. Beach Yoga at South Beach

Join us for yoga by the beach! Beach Yoga classes are a moving meditation in the sun, flowing with the breath and taking the time to relax and experience each posture. Suitable for all levels, including beginner students. Start your weekend enjoying your yoga practice in nature at the beautiful South Beach! Classes are located at Ocean Road, South Fremantle, just north of the South Beach Cafe. Look out for the orange flags! 7.30am to 8.30am Saturday throughout summer. Introduction To Buddhism halfday course

Fenians Festival Family Day

The Fenian Festival Family Day will be buzzing with free activities for all the family. The WA Maritime Museum is offering free entry all day (entry fees will however apply for their major exhibition). Listen to great stories, see a replica whale boat, make a model boat, follow the Shamrock trail, view the award winning children's movie Secret of Kells on the big screen, watch displays of traditional dancing and keep an eye out for talented young buskers.
